YEARS OF CARE

THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2023

Hwalana for Culture, Peace & Development (HWACUPD) has celebrated the girl child by joining their counterparts across the globe in commemorating the 2023 international day of the girl child under the theme, ” INVEST IN GIRLS RIGHTS, OUR LEADERSHIP, OUR WELLBEING”. As part of the activities, Hwalana 4 culture, peace and development organized a ” walk & talk ” campaign on the rights of the girl child. This served as a platform for girls & women to express their concerns. Hwalana is concerned about creating a safe environment for girls & women to discuss & chart solutions. Hwalana has appealed to stakeholders to pay maximum attention to the concerns raised by girls in schools, home, churches, workplace etc so as to promote the course of girls rights. Hwalana is concerned about issues such as girls right to Education, health, sexual abuse, gender based violence, early marriages and female inclusion in decision making at various levels.

Sensitizing young girls on Mentrual Hygiene

Sensitization of menstrual hygiene is paramount for the health and well-being of the girl child. Our initiative focuses on educating girls about menstruation, promoting proper hygiene practices, and providing access to menstrual products. By breaking down stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation, we aim to empower girls to manage their periods confidently. Through interactive workshops, educational resources, and community engagement, we create safe spaces for girls to learn, ask questions, and access support. Join us in our mission to ensure that every girl has the knowledge, resources, and confidence to manage her menstruation with dignity and pride.

Campaign against hate speech and xenophobia

This is a vital step towards fostering inclusive and tolerant communities. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, we aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of hate speech and xenophobic attitudes. By promoting empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity, we strive to create environments where all individuals feel valued and accepted regardless of their background. Visits to orphanages

Our visits to orphanages are more than just acts of charity; they are opportunities to make meaningful connections and bring joy to the lives of children who may lack familial support. Through our regular visits, we aim to provide emotional support, companionship, and positive experiences for orphaned children. By engaging in activities such as games, storytelling, and creative workshops, we create moments of laughter, learning, and growth. Our goal is to not only brighten their day but also to inspire hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
